This guide explains how to add a website on the free plan (with a free subdomain).
First, click the 'Add Website' button from the website page in your dashboard.
You should be taken to the domain search box, where you can find a domain that suits you (a domain is your website's address, e.g. thecoderszone.com). Simply search what you'd like your domain to be and the results will update automatically.
The search box will return some suggestions, based on what you searched for, the availability of domains and pricing. Note the coloured badge, this will tell you whether or not the domain is available. If a domain is not available, you will not be able to proceed with it (the select button will be disabled).
If you're registering a subdomain for use with the free plan, do ensure that it is a free domain as shown above. Paid domains cannot be used with the free plan. Likewise, free domains cannot be used with paid plans.
Once you have made your choice, click 'Select' to proceed to the next stage.
Choose the free plan, as shown above. If you have chosen a free domain, you'll see the options as they are above.
Upon plan selection, you should be taken to the final step required to add a website to The Coders Zone. This is the checkout, where you will be required to fill in contact details (we need these for security reasons). Enter your first name, last name, address and phone number. The address field will provide suggestions as you type, to speed up this process.
Remember, once you've entered these details once, they'll be saved to your account so you won't have to re-enter them (unless you want to make changes). If you've registered a website before, the form will be pre-filled with any details previously entered.
As you're setting up a website on the free plan, payment details are not required.
If you're all ready to go, click 'Subscribe for Free'. You may be presented with a Google reCaptcha challenge if our system detects unusual activity.
You will be shortly re-directed to the 'My Websites' page of the dashboard, where you should see your website.
Initially, the status will probably be 'Setting up DNS'. This is because your website has to undergo a process called DNS propagation (read more about this here https://bit.ly/2D73Lyk). It usually takes 2 -3 minutes, but in some circumstances, can take longer.
Hopefully the status will change to active in a few minutes (reload the page every so often to update it), and the buttons will become enabled. You can learn how to use the dashboard, file manager, cPanel and account settings in other tutorials.
One last thing - visit your new website and check the following page comes up. If it does, you're all set!
